“Chotà-aTchinèe, Woman of roots I am…”

Is a ritual performance an intense an rich creative

process with elements historical and anthropological . It represents a personal research

aimed to recreate a feminine healing universe.

Its main purpose is to promote the Mexican Indigenous ritual cosmogony from the prayers and

Songs of Marìa Sabina.

This play revalues the figure of Mazatecan women of wisdom who embody the archetype of Mexican Ancestral Women.

The ceremony of fungi acknowledges our ancient medicine and the art of women who heal,despicted through a nisval –theatrical corporal language that includes video-art and original music.

Alejandra Camarena (Iskandera Makanare) is a performing artist whose acting training has developed in professional companies in Mexico. She has also performed in national tours and in Expo- Sevilla 92. She studied at the Laboratory for Creation and Development of Performing Arts “L’ARTES” in Mexico, City and in the Mexican Butoh Ritual School.

She is the author of the unipersonal ritual play “Chotà-aT chinèe, Woman of roots I am..” with which she has toured the communities of the Mexican State of Michoacàn , in the Second Marìa Sabina Festival in Mèxico City and will be touring as video-theater in different countries of Europe.

Gauging:

It depends on the characteristics of the space. Outside: seats can be lined in for a better viewing.

If you are interested in the presentation of the play we required an inviting letter in order to fulfill the official requirement that mexicans institutions demand for the presentations.

Note: All the relate to the technical requirements, will have to be analyzed between the staff of Nierika Teatro Exploration at least 15 working days to make the necessary technical adjustment prior to the show.
